A small business owner specializing in home improvement came to me in need of a logo and business cards. Inspiration hit me in the passenger seat of my friend’s car. I couldn’t resist grabbing the nearest piece of cardboard and pen I found in the side pocket. I then explained to my friend how Rafa, the owner of Raco’s Home Improvements, had previously used the slogan “Better For Less” which he wanted to keep but possibly work on. He also wanted all of his services listed out on his business card. I knew I wanted to create a logo incorporating the company name ,Raco’s, with a house frame.
After playing around with different versions of Raco’s logo, this one finally felt right.
Rafa and I both agreed a dark sea foam green would make his logo and business card pop. I created a hand-lettered typeface to read all of Rafa’s services in a personal, friendly way. I also re-worded “Better For Less” to “Better Work, Better Price” because it’s a touch more specific.
